Porcelain veneers are a popular and permanent way to restore beautiful aesthetics to your smile. Veneers are durable and made of a highly stain resistant material so they will not become discolored or stained. Porcelain veneers allow you to enjoy your optimal oral health. Cosmetic dentist Dr. John Cranham can complete the dental veneers procedure in just three visits to our Chesapeake, VA dentist office.
Visit One: Treatment Planning
On your first visit, Dr. Cranham will provide a thorough oral health exam. Together, you will build a comprehensive dental treatment plan that will meet your cosmetic goals and tend to your oral health needs. With innovative dental technology, Dr. Cranham will help plan your new smile and discuss the benefits of dental veneers.
Visit Two: Preparation
During the second visit, Dr. Cranham will prepare your teeth for the bonding phase. Small amounts of enamel will be removed from each tooth needing a veneer. Most patients require no numbing, but local anesthesia is available. After your enamel is prepared, Dr. Cranham will take an impression of your smile and have it sent to a lab. The dental lab will custom make your dental restoration by hand. The restoration will be ready in about 2-3 weeks. While you wait for your restorations to be bonded, Dr. Cranham may provide you with temporary veneers.
Visit Three: Bonding
This visit will take about 2 hours. Dr. Cranham will place your porcelain veneers on your teeth to ensure they are color matched and fit well with your existing teeth. The color can be adjusted and will be approved by you before being permanently bonded. Once you are satisfied with the color, Dr. Cranham will use a bonding cement and special light to permanently adhere you veneers so you can enjoy years of beautiful smiles!
Dental veneers can be treated like natural teeth. You can brush and floss regularly and eat a normal, healthy diet. Dental veneers are stain resistant to keep your smile beautiful for many years. There are minimal to no side effects from dental veneers. Some patients may experience sensitivity, but that normally fades after about two weeks. Dental veneers can be designed to fit your cosmetic goals and budget.
